About the Foundation - Helping those who serve

Members of the Corwin Family have created the Foundation to honor the life and legacy of Captain Scott Corwin. We remain devoted to his brothers in arms, and strive to help members of the military and their families.

We also created a scholarship in Scott's name to encourage high school athletes to excel not only on the field, but in the classroom and in their community as well.

The Captain Scott Corwin Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and all contributions are tax deductible. We have no paid employees - all of the officers and board members volunteer their time and talents.

We direct virtually every dollar that we receive to our causes. We do this in honor of Scott, in our efforts to continue his legacy of selfless commitment to his nation.

Shawn Russell's Marathon Run Exceeds Goal

ONF

Shawn Russell not only ran a successful Marine Marathon in Washington, D.C. in October, but shattered his goal of $2,500 for the Captain Scott Corwin Foundation by over $1,500. The final tally for his efforts is $4,017.

The Captain Scott Corwin Foundation would like to extend our heartfealt thanks to Shawn and his efforts, and to all of those who contributed to his run for Scottie. We at the Foundation are just overwhelmed by the support folks have given Shawn from virtually all over the country, and we want to thank each and every one of you on behalf of Shawn and everyone here at Scottie's Foundation.

Shawn Russell, a 1999 classmate of Scott at West Point, dedicated his run in the 2009 Marine Corps Marathon for Scottie's Foundation. Shawn is a retired Captain of the U.S. Army Special Forces.

"I met Scotty when we were introduced by a mutual friend in 2000. We were roommates for 3 years before Scott was transfered to Ft. Stewart, GA. I was in training at Ft. Bragg, NC in 2004 when I learned about Scott's murder. Years later, after hearing about another runner using a marathon to raise funds for muscular dystrophy (MS), I decided to do the same to raise funds to the Captain Scott Corwin Foundation.

ONF

Everyone,

I just wanted to send you all a note of sincere thanks for your donation to the Captain Scott Corwin Foundation.  Although my initial goal was $2500, thanks to the almost 60 of you who gave so generously, we raised $4017, or 161% of our goal.  I couldn't not have imagined that word would spread like it did, or that we would raise the amount we did.

Again, thank you for your generousity and support for this worthy cause.
Sincerely,
Shawn

ONF

Thanks to the many donations to Shawn Russell's run in the Marine Marathon, he has met and exceeded his goal of $2,500. The Foundation wants to extend their deep appreciation to all of those who so generously donated, and to Shawn for his efforts.

Corwin Foundation Teams Up With Local Artist

Project 92 jerseys to the 92nd

Alex Yawor of Hopewell Township, Pennsylvania a World War II veteran, has taken up painting again after several years. He wants to paint portraits of soldiers who have died in the ongoing Iraq and Afghanistan wars and give them to the soldiers’ families.

Mr Yawor has been painting for over twenty years and with the exception of two three day work shops, is self taught. An 86 year old World War ll Marine his commitment and devotion to others was immediately recognized as a cause the Corwin Foundation wanted to reach out and offer their assistance. The resulting initative to help defer Mr Yawor's costs is known as Paintings of Fallen Heroes.

"I always felt that I was put on this earth for a reason and about two months ago I found that reason. I read a story about a woman that is doing paintings of our fallen heroes and giving them to the parents, so I feel that is why I am here, to do what she is doing." - Alex Yawor

Mr. Yawor wants to paint as many fallen heroes as he can. If you wish to have a painting done by Mr.Yawor, please contact the Captain Scott Corwin Foundation by phone (724-218-1241) or by email at our contact page. The Captain Scott Corwin Foundation will take care of the materials for the painting and shipping the portrait to you. We here at the Corwin Foundation are truly honored to offer Mr. Yawor's talents to the families of the fallen.

Airport "Thank You" Program Underway

The Captain Scott Corwin Foundation has developed a simple but effective way to say 'Thank You' to our military men and women.

Officers and Board Members of the Foundation have been supplied with our ATY's, Airport Thank You Cards with a gift card inside. The cards say "On behalf of the Captain Scott Corwin Foundation, a small token of our appreciation for what you do for all of us".

Included with the Thank You Card is a $10 gift voucher for a food vendor within the airport where they can get a meal. As we travel the country, we have been greeting uniformed members of the military, thanking them for their service, and giving them our ATY's. The feedback from those who have received these Thank You's has been extremely positive.

If you're in the military, look for the ATY's from our Foundation members. If you'd like to help us with our Airport Thank You Program, go to our 'Donation' page and contribute your $10 for an ATY for our military men and women.

CSCF supports Operation Never Forgotten

ONF

Operation Never Forgotten motivates the public to volunteer for military support organizations. This is done by creating mass awareness advertising campaigns… primarily through outdoor billboards and airport signs.

The campaigns thank our deployed troops and veterans; remember our fallen heroes; honor our gold star families; appreciate our blue star families; recognize our wounded warriors; and bring hope to children left behind since 9-11-01.
